  • The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ released the power necessary to transform the human heart.

History of Heart Cry Ministries

Heart Cry Ministries was founded by Pastors Roger and Sharon Hornbeck and has grown out of 22 years of ministering to the body of Christ in a variety of settings. Roger has a B.A. from Portland State University and a Masters of Divinity from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary. They have held pastoral positions for twelve years in Brewster, Washington, six years in Santa Maria, California and now pastor in Flagstaff, Arizona. Roger and Sharon have been married for 25 years and have 4 children.

Both Roger and Sharon value the richness of the eclectic Christian influences that have shaped their ministry: Their Baptist upbringing which inspired a love for the Word of God; Vineyard teaching that has awakened their hearts to a living, active God; and a love for symbolism inspired from the liturgical traditions. All of these components have been essential elements as they have both spoken at and planned a variety of retreats, seminars and workshops. Topics for such events have encompassed a wide range of subject matter, including teachings on the heart.
Sharon has taught women's Bible studies on a regular basis, as well as, served as Director of Women's Ministries. Roger has been trained in a variety of Biblical counseling methods and in addition to speaking and teaching, has counseled extensively throughout his pastoral ministry. His three-year study of 1 Peter 3:15 led to in-depth biblical teaching on issues of the heart, which has provided a strategic model for spiritual growth and dynamic heart change. Roger and Sharon value and incorporate significant prayer ministry time in their varied teaching enviroments.

The experiences, training and leading of the Holy Spirit have culminated into the formation of Heart Cry Ministries and it is the desire of Roger and Sharon to help the individual see their heart restored and transformed into the image of Christ.
